Nagaland Mhasizolie releases debut album ‘Terhuo Dielie’

Renowned Tenyidie singer and Northeast Idol 2015 finalist Mhasizolie Metsieo released his debut album “Terhuo Dielie” at a programme held on Thursday at the Red Cross Building, Kohima. The album, comprising seven songs in the Tenyidie language, was officially released by class-I contractor and NPF vice president Peter Kuotsu.
In his address, Kuotsu recalled that Metsieo’s father had been a respected singer who had encouraged many musicians in their village and said Metsieo had continued that legacy. He stated that, according to the Bible, God created mankind and bestowed talents upon people, adding that singing was considered one of the foremost talents given to humanity. He observed that while Nagas were generally gifted in singing and sports, there were individuals who rose above others through exceptional ability.
Kuotsu said performers needed to remain mindful of their conduct as the public closely watched them, and noted that good use of talent could enable artistes to grow and move forward. He remarked that many skilled singers were unable to advance due to financial mismanagement and encouraged artistes to prioritise developing their talents, saying God would guide them in the right direction.
He further said Tenyidie had once been an important language and a link language among tribes, and emphasised the need to revive and promote it rather than solely encouraging children to focus on English. He added that music was one of the strongest platforms through which the language could be strengthened. Citing the Mizo community as an example, he noted that prioritising one’s own language helped expand its prominence and audience.
Sharing about the making of his album, Metsieo said it had been by God’s grace that he had been able to write and complete the songs. He acknowledged the support of his parents, friends and fellow artistes throughout his musical journey. Metsieo also stated that many of the songs were deeply personal and drawn from significant phases of his life, adding that he hoped the compositions would resonate with listeners and remain timeless.
The release was chaired by Medolenuo Ambrocia, while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Ruokuohetuo Soliezuo, Evangelist (NAGC). Greetings were delivered by Vizosielie Khoubve, album convenor, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Victor Metsieo. A special number was presented by Ruokuovotuo Pfüsenuo, Nagaland Idol 2.07.
