Dimapur Midland Council denies claim of dissolution

Midland Council has denied, what it called, the false and misleading information published on October 23, 2024 by unidentified individuals or entity that the council was dissolved on October 19, 2024.

In a press note, Midland Council chairman R Aosanen Longkumer and secretary Kethoyopo Pucho said that the council chairman formally informed the deputy commissioner Dimapur about the unauthorised meeting convened by a few individuals on October 19.

He also clarified to the Midland community that this meeting was not sanctioned by the council’s executive, nor endorsed by office-bearers, or supported by the gaon bura (GB).

The council claimed that the signatories to the meeting and its participants were primarily housewives, including some individuals who did not reside in the Midland jurisdiction, and that the signatures were collected door-to-door, and the so-called general meeting was attended by a few people.

The council said its existing team of office-bearers and executive members remained intact, with only minor changes in the executive members’ induction.

The council assured that any future changes in the leadership would be made in accordance with formation norms, and rules and regulations established by the state government. Strongly condemning the dissemination of false information, the council urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting its dissolution.
