The two-day Mimkut festival at Maova village culminated on January 17, 2026, with the unveiling of the Mimkut monolith by special guest, I. Himato Zhimomi, principal secretary, Geology and Mining, P&NG, Science and Technology. The ceremony was attended by chief host L. Singsit, president Kuki Inpi Nagaland, ADC Medziphema P. James Swu, government officials, village leaders and the public. The monolith was dedicated by Rev. David Vaiphei, executive secretary KCCNS.
In his address, Himato expressed gratitude for the opportunity to grace the occasion and lauded the Kuki community and organising committee for successfully showcasing their rich cultural heritage and traditions through the festival. He highlighted the significance of Mimkut celebrations and recalled the longstanding relationship between the Kuki community and his family, dating back to 1964 with the first MLA Lamkam and his father, former minister Ihezhe Zhimomi.
He urged the community to preserve its land, stressing its economic and environmental value. Pointing out its strategic location along the four-lane highway and new railway line, he emphasised the importance of judicious utilisation for sustainable development. He extended his wishes for peace and prosperity to the Kuki community through the festival.
Day two of the festival featured cultural performances including gosem display and dances by groups from Molvom, Kuki community Medziphema town, Zhuikhu village, Kuki Union and Khaibung. The programme was compered by Nekhomang Hansing and Chongboi Singson. Invocation was proposed by Rev. Seimang Haokip, welcome address by L. Singsit, vote of thanks by Lulen Kholhou, and closing prayer by pastor Ngambom Hansing of KBC Maova.
