Nagaland: Miss Northeast 2026 grand finale set for Feb 7 in Kohima

Correspondent

The grand finale of Miss Northeast 2026 will be held on February 7 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma, with the event scheduled to begin at 5 pm. Thirteen finalists from across the northeastern states will compete for the title.
Addressing the media, president of the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN), Mele Pucho, stated that although it was not Nagaland’s turn to host the pageant, the event was shifted to Kohima due to unforeseen circumstances that arose in Assam in 2025, where the pageant was originally scheduled to take place.
Pucho clarified that BASN did not approach the state government to host the event this year, noting that Nagaland had recently concluded the Miss Nagaland pageant. He said the organisers were conscious of not overburdening stakeholders and had therefore decided to keep the current edition low-key. While the show itself would be grand, he stated that the prize money and associated privileges would be modest, with the winner’s prize amount expected to be around Rs. 1 lakh.
The Miss Northeast pageant is jointly organised by the Northeast Beauty Pageant Organisation, a collective body comprising official state-level pageant organisers from across the region. All state organisers are expected to arrive in Kohima by February 6.
This year’s edition will feature two designers from Nagaland, while choreography for the finale will be handled by choreographer Theja Sekhose. The panel of judges, according to the organisers, will be revealed only during the grand finale.
Nagaland had previously hosted the inaugural edition of Miss Northeast in 2022, while another edition was hosted in Sikkim. The 2026 edition marks the second occasion on which Kohima will host the Miss Northeast grand finale, which Pucho described as a privilege for BASN.
The 13 finalists represent the northeastern states as follows: Mizoram (1), Tripura (2), Meghalaya (2), Nagaland (2), Manipur (2), Assam (2) and Sikkim (2).
The contestants have been in Kohima for the past four days and have been participating in various pre-finale activities ahead of the main event.
