The Public Relations Officer (PRO) and additional superintendent of police, Mokokchung, have released the crime statistics for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025.
According to the report, a total of 29 cases were registered under various heads: rape – 1, kidnapping & abduction – 2, extortion – 1, outraging the modesty of a woman – 1, cheating – 3, criminal trespass – 1, theft – 8, vehicle accidents – 7, hurt – 2, and other IPC offences – 3.
Under special and local laws, the following cases were recorded: Arms Act – 2 cases, NDPS Act – 14 cases, NLTP Act – 1 case, POCSO Act – 1 case, and IT Act – 1 case.
During the period, 1 regular and 51 criminal complaints were registered under the NLTP Act. Seizures included 42,105 bottles of rum, 381 bottles of whiskey, 16,692 cans of beer, 48 bottles of Breezer, and 240 bottles of vodka. A total of 55 persons were arrested in connection with these cases.
For NDPS violations, 14 cases were registered with seizures comprising 262.5 grams of brown sugar/heroin, 951 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules, 4,240 tablets of Alprazolam, 60 tablets of Spasmonil, 39 tablets of Nitrazepam, 189.86 grams of opium, and 111.34 grams of ganja. A total of 21 persons were arrested in these cases.
Under the Arms Act, 2 cases were registered, resulting in the seizure of one M4 rifle, one .22 rifle (country-made), one .22 pistol, two .32 pistols (country-made), 30 live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, 6 rounds of .32 mm, 20 rounds of .22 mm, and four magazines. Seven persons were arrested in connection with these cases.
