The Nagaland Art Center on Wednesday opened a painting exhibition titled “Where the Land Breathes Colour” by visual artist, independent curator and museologist Moaso Aier at the Imliyanger Memorial Centre (IMC) Hall, Supply Colony, Dimapur.
The exhibition, which will run till February 15, is open daily from 2 pm onwards. The collection features an assemblage of artworks depicting intimate moments of love and gentle solitude set against evocative landscapes that reflect nostalgia and a deep sense of belonging. The artworks are priced between Rs 18,000 and Rs 1.26 lakh.
The opening reception was graced by NPTS principal Aboli Mehta, IPS, as the special guest, who formally declared the exhibition open. In her address, Mehta said the paintings were more than visual representations, describing them as expressions filled with stories that could be both seen and felt. She lauded the artist’s reflections and appreciation of her God-given talent, and encouraged her to continue inspiring others through her work.
Mehta also commended the leadership of Nagaland Art Center founders Ababe Ezung and Sentienla Ezung for consistently providing a platform for young and emerging talents. She noted that Aier was not only a painter but an internationally acclaimed artist, and expressed pride in seeing a woman excel in the field of art.
Speaking on the occasion, Moaso Aier expressed gratitude to God for the ability to recreate glimpses of creation through art. She thanked the organisers and friends for their support and for allowing her the freedom to curate the exhibition, adding that the show had been long in the making. Recalling a quote she encountered at an art supply store in New York “The Earth without art is just ‘Eh’”she highlighted the role of creativity in enriching lives and urged people to actively engage with and support the arts.
Nagaland Art Center administrator Sentienla Ezung congratulated Aier and said it was a privilege to host her exhibition. She noted that the gallery aims to showcase, promote and educate through art in line with the IMC vision, adding that the centre has hosted several exhibitions by local, national and international artists over the years. Describing Aier’s works as distinctive and impactful, she reiterated the centre’s commitment to nurturing and promoting creative talent.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Ababe Ezung, with invocation by Dimapur Christian Fellowship, Darogapathar pastor Moatoshi Imsong.
