The Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, hosted its annual award ceremony-cum-advent Christmas celebration on November 26, centred on the theme “Joy in Expectation.” The celebration brought together faculty, student teachers, and staff in a spirit of anticipation and festive warmth.
The programme commenced with session one, facilitated by Nokzenyala, invocation prayer by Dembo Longchar, followed by “My Christmas Story” shared by Zulumongla Jamir, who reflected on personal experiences and the deeper meaning of Christmas traditions.
A key highlight of the gathering was the seasonal address delivered by Director of Shalom Ministry, Nagaland, Pastor Majem Longkumer. Speaking on the theme “Joy in Expectation,” he emphasized that true joy was rooted hope, assurance, and promise of Christ’s coming.
He reminded the gathering that Advent invites believers to wait joyfully; not passively, but with hearts prepared, grateful, and expectant. The session also featured a musical offering by Keleu Tsuhah, and an appreciation message by MCTESU General Secretary, Imsujungla Tzudir, benediction was delivered by Sentitula T. Ao.
Session Two embraced the festive spirit, hosted by Cikumla Chang and Y. Moatemjen and highlights of the session included the Harmonic Yuletide Challenge and creative presentations from Semester 1 and Semester 3 student teachers.
Awards were presented to recognise excellence among student teachers, Imtikumzuk Jamir received the most promising student teacher award (Batch 2023–25), and Tiajungla Jamir was honoured as a University topper (Top 15).
The celebration concluded with gratitude, unity, and hopeful anticipation.
