The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mokokchung. Ajit Kumar Verma on Friday called a press conference at the Conference Hall of the DC office. At the conference, the DC highlighted the directives of the central and state government to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth Anniversary, fostering national unity, public awareness, and community participation in alignment with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
The action plan for the commemoration to be held from Oct 31 to Nov 25, 2025 included organization of district level padyatra. The 1st Padyatra will be held on November 6 at 7 am starting from Town hall to Imkongmeren sports complex (local ground) and the 2nd Padyatra will be held on November 25, 2025.
The DC further added that further actions like health camp, educational seminars & workshops/ district level debate competitions/, Swadeshi Bharat & Atmanirbhar Bharat pledge drives, art and poster competition, exhibitions and awareness campaigns.
The photo exhibition along with distribution of pamphlets will be conducted in various locations in Mokokchung along with the conduct of cleanliness drives across Mokokchung.
For this, the DC solicited support and active participation from all the departments and civil society organizations for celebrating the commemoration programme in a befitting manner. The press conference was attended by ADC & CEO MMC Atsung Walling, Addl. SP Thumchobemo besides the DC.
