Along with the rest of the country, educational institutions and organisations in Dimapur celebrated the 77th Republic Day on January 26 with programmes marked by patriotic spirit and community service.
VWF: Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) celebrated the day at its office terrace, DMC Complex, Kalibari Road. Founder Niranjan Saha delivered the welcome address, highlighting the constitutional importance of Republic Day. The National Flag was unfurled by retired DMC superintendent and Foundation advisor, Ganesh Sharma, followed by the National Anthem. Addressing the gathering, Sharma emphasized moral values, cultural ethics and responsible citizenship, while appreciating VWF’s philanthropic initiatives. Senior advisor Bishnu Bhattacharjee spoke on national unity and the essence of “unity in diversity.” VMF joint secretary and Mahila Patanjali president, Rita Singh, urged citizens to lead disciplined lives through yoga. Members of Mahila Patanjali, dressed in tricolour attire, participated enthusiastically. Patriotic performances were presented by Sujan Dey and Master Sayon Ghosh. The event was coordinated by Purnendu Das, Suparna Saha and Tej Singh Rajput, with a vote of thanks by Anita Roychowdhury. The programme concluded with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram.”
LCDE: Lions Club of Dimapur Elite (LCDE) organised a blood donation camp and awareness programme at District Hospital Blood Bank, Dimapur. Under the leadership of president Meena Sethi and chairperson CA Swati Jain, informative sessions were conducted by Dr. Rongsen, MO In-charge, Blood Centre, on the importance of blood donation, and Dr. Seyie, senior paediatrician, on Haemophilia and Thalassaemia. Both doctors were felicitated by the club.
Donors were honoured with certificates and refreshments, while BP and haemoglobin check-ups were conducted. Pamphlets on blood donation were also distributed. LCDE reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service. Flag hoisting was also held at the Lions Centre in the presence of members from various Lions Clubs of Dimapur.
LCD: Lions Club of Dimapur, in collaboration with Leo Club of Dimapur, celebrated Republic Day at the Lions Centre. Chief guest Dr. Neena Dutta, FVDG, led the flag unfurling ceremony along with president Sanjay Jaiswal and other dignitaries.
Members of Lions Club of Dimapur Elite and Lions Club of Dimapur Blue Venda also attended. Following the celebration, members visited Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, where dry ration was distributed under the chairmanship of Lion Jitu Elani, reflecting the club’s continued commitment to service and compassion.
MGM: MGM College celebrated Republic Day at its campus. Administrator Fr. Giju George highlighted the sanctity of the Constitution, democratic ideals and enduring national values, urging youth to embrace responsibility and unity. NSS students presented a programme, while principal Dr. R.K. Behera delivered the Republic Day message, calling upon students, faculty and staff to uphold constitutional values and contribute to nation-building. The programme concluded with the patriotic song “Maa Tujhe Salaam.”
