Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi expressed concern that Nagaland was moving towards dystopia with Nagas having reached a point of rational bankruptcy as people who speak the truth are despised and those who fabricate and peddle lies are held in high esteem.
In a statement, Tokheho said when BJP came to power in 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people of Nagaland had great expectations for solution to the vexed Naga issue. He said that when the “Framework Agreement” and “Agreed Position” were signed in 2015 and 2017 respectively, then Governor and interlocutor RN Ravi had categorically stated on the floor of the State Assembly on February 12, 2021 that the negotiations had concluded on October 31, 2019.
Tokheho recalled that Ravi’s statement was adopted during the vote of thanks by 60 members of the 13th NLA. However, in spite of Ravi’s sincere efforts to resolve the Naga issue, Tokheho said some leaders did not agree with the efforts. “…These are the people who thrive when there is chaos and uncertainty in society. Our inability or denial to see the truth is because we are still demarcated socially and politically on tribal lines,” lamented Tokheho.
