Nagaland: MVSU holds literary session at Metonger

The Metonger Village Students’ Union (MVSU) inaugurated its Literary cum Sports Session with vibrancy and enthusiasm at Metonger Village Public Ground on January 3. The event drew active participation from students, officials and members of the public, reflecting the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.
The programme commenced with the flag hoisting by special guest P. Shiuto Tikhir, retired Assam Rifles, who also formally declared the sports meet open. The special guest, in his address, encouraged the participants to uphold discipline, teamwork and fair play in sports, underscoring the values that strengthen both individual character and community spirit. The inaugural session was emceed by S. Tsurehba, assistant general secretary, and began with an invocation by Pastor M.B.C, seeking blessings for the smooth conduct of the programme and its participants. The literary segment of the session will feature competitions in Spelling Bee, Extemporary Speech and Debate, while the sports meet will include Volleyball (boys & girls) and Badminton (boys & girls) events.
Delivering the welcome address, literary secretary Toju K.N. encouraged participants to uphold the values of discipline and excellence. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by games and sports secretary T. Tutsu, reaffirming commitment to fair play.
Executive secretary T.L. Kius delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective efforts of organisers, participants and supporters. The programme concluded with a benediction pronounced by associate women pastor T.L. Khiammong, marking the formal opening of the session.
