Nagaland’s shuttlers—Alem Pongener and Achumi Yekhuvi— secured gold medal in the Men’s Doubles 60+ category at the Sunrise Yonex All India Masters Ranking Badminton Tournament.
The duo defeated Sanjeev Virmani and Atul Walia 2-1 with a scoreline of 21-18, 12-21, 21-17.
The Yonex-Sunrise All India Masters Ranking Badminton tournament was held at in Agra from January 21 to February 1, 2026, organised by Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association under auspices of Badminton Association of India.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Lizutomi Kuqhakulu (DLK) on Monday welcomed the Achumi and Pongener at Dimapur airport. The union congratulated the duo on winning the gold medal at the national level and bringing laurels to the state. DLK also wished them success in their future endeavours.
