A 17-member Naga Wrestling team has reached Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to participate in the 2025 WFI Senior National Championship scheduled from December 12 to 14.
The team underwent a month-long intensive training in Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling at the National Wrestling Academy, Nandini Nagar, Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, from November 11 to December 9, in preparation for the national event. The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), in a press release, expressed gratitude to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and the academy’s coaches, trainers and staff for providing high-quality training facilities.
The contingent is led by NWA president Vivolie Kezo, with coaches Vekhriyi Chuzho, Rangsilang Ikierimbe and Mezhiesino Keyho accompanying the wrestlers. Prominent Naga wrestlers Venuzo Dawhuo and Huluyi D. Vadeo are part of the squad, alongside other male and female wrestlers.

The NWA expressed optimism for an improved performance from the Naga wrestlers in the upcoming championship, highlighting the team’s dedication and preparation.
