Nagaland: Narcotics worth Rs. 9.66 cr seized

In a significant operation, the Kohima Excise team manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized narcotics worth Rs. 9.66 crore.


Excise Deputy Commissioner (Zonal) Venezolu Dawhuo said that the team intercepted the vehicle (AS-03-3808) at around 8.30 a.m. on Sunday. Upon thorough inspection, the team uncovered a hidden compartment in the backrest of the vehicle, concealing 161 soap cases of heroin, weighing approximately 1.6 kg.


The lone occupant of the vehicle, identified as K.H. Pavei, s/o Khule from Phaibung Khullen, Senapati (Manipur), was apprehended. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985. The operation was led by AIEs Kezhasolie, Khesangmew, along with E/Cs Khrovotso Nganwang, Rokovikho, Kevibuo, Mhao Lotha, Nyimtsemo, and L/c Rose.
