The Niuland Area Sports Association (NASA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee from November 3 to 8, 2025, at Hovishe Village local ground under the theme “Hope, Peace, and Unity.” The week-long event brought together GBs, leaders, elders, players and well-wishers from 22 villages across the Niuland Area.
The Golden Jubilee concluded with a football championship final between P. Vizheto and K. Hetoi teams. In a closely contested match, P. Vizheto emerged victorious with a 1–0 win. In men’s volleyball, Khitohe Village was the champions while Kiyekhu Village was the runners-up.
In women’s volleyball, K. Hetoi Village bagged the championship title while Hezulho Village was the runners-up. In women’s penalty shootout, Hezulho Village was the winner and Kiyezu B was the runners-up; while the best discipline team was bagged by Niuland Town.
The closing ceremony was graced by president of the Niuland District GB’s Association, Isawoto Zhimomi as the guest of honour, who lauded NASA for completing 50 years of sporting excellence and community spirit. “This milestone is not only a celebration of sports but also of vision, perseverance, and unity,” he said, paying tribute to the pioneers whose sacrifices laid the foundation of the association.
Highlighting the district’s progress, Zhimomi noted that Niuland district now comprises five major areas — Aghunaqa, Khaghaboto, Kuhuboto, Ato Area, and Niuland Area. He described the Niuland Area, with its 22 villages, as a vital route connecting Naga districts with neighboring Assam and extending toward Myanmar.
Calling for collective efforts, he urged all villages to cooperate with the district administration and appealed to political parties to work together for development, particularly in sports. He expressed gratitude to the chief minister, the minister for Roads and Bridges (PWD), the minister for PHED, Ghaspani-1, and the advisor for Urban Development, Ghaspani-2, for their contributions toward uplifting Niuland district.
Zhimomi further emphasized the role of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork, and responsibility among youths, encouraging them to embrace sportsmanship as a path to building a peaceful and progressive society.
The guest of honour presented prizes to the winners and runners-up, congratulating all teams for their spirited performances.
The celebration ended with words of gratitude and a reaffirmation of NASA’s enduring motto — Hope, Peace, and Unity — as the association continues to inspire the youth of Niuland through sports and togetherness.
