Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has strongly condemned the alleged drone strike carried out by the Indian Armed Forces at Khammoi village, which claimed the lives of two civilians.
In a condemnation note, NCD president G.K. Rengma and general secretary L.K. Peter Anal stated that the attack resulted in the deaths of a minor boy and a student leader, besides causing damage to property and instilling fear among innocent and peace-loving Naga villagers residing in the remote Indo-Myanmar border areas. Describing the incident as “merciless,” NCD expressed shock that the Indian Armed Forces had “systematically organised” an airstrike using advanced drone technology against unarmed civilians. The council questioned the rationale behind deploying such military might in civilian areas, terming it “beyond comprehension.”
NCD further alleged that under the pretext of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), the Indian Army “have killed enough and more lives of Nagas”. “Nagas are not missiles of the Indian armies,” the council asserted.
Appealing for restraint and respect, NCD urged that the peaceful and self-contained way of life of the Nagas be honoured and cautioned against treating Nagas as “sub-humans” with lesser rights to live.
