State deputy chief minister, TR Zeliang, on Monday asserted that Nagaland needed total transformation on all fronts and called upon every citizen of the state to play an active role in the transformation process.
He said transformation was collective effort and required not only the will of government but also the support and participation of every citizen. “Together we can build a society that is not only strong and resilient but also just, inclusive and prosperous,” Zeliang said this during a programme commemorating 75th years anniversary of New Tesen village in Peren district.
According to Dy CM office’s media cell, Zeliang urged the people to embrace change, foster sense of community, and work hand in hand with the government to build a prosperous and sustainable future.
As Nagaland continues on its path of development and transformation, the Dy. CM said the government remained committed to creating an environment where all citizens could thrive with clear vision for the future and the spirit of collaboration.
He expressed confidence that the changes underway would contribute to a stronger, more unified and progressive Naga society.
The Dy CM also highlighted several key sectors that need to be addressed properly in order to make the state successfully usher into an era of positive changes.
He said ensuring peace and stability; fostering economic growth and infrastructure development, upgrading education and skill development; promotion of Naga culture and identity, improving health and social welfare needed to be addressed.
Telling the youth to understand the reality of today’s world, he said they cannot and should not depend solely on government employment. He said that the future of Nagaland depended on how creatively and responsibly youth use their education. Zeliang said there were immense opportunities in entrepreneurship, agriculture and allied sector, skilled based professions, small business and other private sector.
Stressing on the need to embrace dignity of labour, Dy.CM said that success should not be measure only by government jobs, but by how the youth contribute to the society, create livelihoods and strengthen the communities.
He encouraged the youths to be job creators rather than job seekers, to embrace innovation, hard work and self-reliance.
Zeliang also said that Peren district holds a significant place in the development journey of Nagaland and assured that the government would work towards inclusive growth by strengthening road connectivity, improving education system, health care, and livelihood opportunities.
On the occasion, Zeliang congratulated the New Tesen village on attainment of 75 years. He encouraged the village to renew their commitment to peace, progress and collective responsibility.
