The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) convened a Special General Body Meeting on Saturday at the Conference Hall of its newly inaugurated office at Merhulietsa Colony, Kohima.
The meeting, chaired by NFA president K. Neibou Sekhose, was attended by representatives from 14 member District Football Associations. In his address, Sekhose presented detailed reports on recent football activities, including the Nagaland Super League (NSL), the 24th Dr. T Ao Inter-District Football Championship, the National Futsal Championship, and the selection of two players from State Champion Aphuyemi FC for the National Futsal Team camp. He also highlighted the successful hosting of the Dr. T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-26 Tier-2, the first national tournament organised in Nagaland.
Urging affiliated district associations to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations mandated by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Constitution, Sekhose called for preparedness for upcoming changes. He emphasised the importance of promoting grassroots football across the state, with particular focus on training junior teams, upgrading coaching standards and improving referee quality. Special attention was also given to the development of junior girls’ and women’s football, alongside efficient implementation of CRS/CMS in Nagaland.
The meeting discussed plans to launch the 2nd edition of the Nagaland Super League in early 2026. Sekhose further announced the introduction of the NFA Awards from next year to recognise outstanding contributions to football development in the state.
Approval was also given for the constitution of several working committees. Presidents and representatives of various District Football Associations shared their views and suggestions during the interactive session. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by NFA joint secretary to L. Shahoto Yimchunger.
The occasion was marked by the inauguration of the NFA office and the appointment of key office functionaries, underscoring a significant milestone in the association’s journey.
