Aboi area civil society organisations (CSOs) including Konyak Union (KU) Aboi unit, onyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) Aboi unit, Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) and Aboi Town Students’ Union (ATSU) Monday held protest rally at Aboi town against survey of NH-702 option No. 1 alignment.
After the protest rally, the representatives of the CSOs submitted representation to the EAC Aboi addressed to the state chief minister. In the representation, KU Aboi unit president Konwang Konyak, KNSK Aboi vice president S Nyamtai Konyak, AASU vice president Nyei-e Konyak and ATSU president Hamshen Konyak expressed deep concern over what they described as “unilateral and selective action” of the survey team constituted by the deputy chief minister and minister in-charge for national highways to survey NH-702 (Mon-Aboi-Longleng Road).
The signatories said that on November 4, 2025, the survey team verified only option-1 alignment completely ignoring option-2 and option-3, which they claimed have been the clear and longstanding preferences of more than one hundred villages and major towns across Mon district.
CSOs reminded that on November 7 they had also served an ultimatum on the responsible authority for reverification of all the alignment within seven days, but no response was received from the authority.
Aboi CSOs expressed apprehension continuation of the survey in this manner could lead to “unavoidable public unrest.” Therefore, CSOs have urge the chief minister to immediately intervene and direct the responsible authorities to conduct the survey fairly on option 2 and option 3 as well.
