Appreciating the efforts of the state authorities to address the concerns surrounding the ‘Gau Dhwaj Sthapna Bharat Yatra’, Nagaland Christian Forum (NJCF) lauded the state government, administration and police department for their unwavering support and commitment to safeguarding community values and traditions.
In a statement, NJCF president Rev Dr N Paphino and secretary Rev D Moses Murry commended the government stance against the “infiltration of heretical religious and cultural groups from outside the region.
They said they felt that this initiative could be perceived as insensitive to local cultural practices where cows were considered domestic animals and not sacred.
They claimed that the community’s tradition of consuming beef on various occasions was an integral part of Naga heritage.
Clarifying that their position, as well as the government’s order, was not intended to disparage any religion, they pointed out that it was instead a testament to the collective commitment to preserving the unique cultural identity of the society.
Thanking government for understanding and cooperation, they said their dedication to maintaining social harmony and protecting the community’s interests was invaluable.
