Nagaland NMHP launches community safety drive, warns against public disturbances

DIMAPUR

The New Ministers’ Hill Panchayat (NMHP) has announced a renewed phase of community cooperation aimed at enhancing the quality of life and ensuring safety for all residents.
In a press release, convenor of the Action Committee, Vevotso Medeo, informed that several proactive initiatives have been launched, including 24×7 roster duty—particularly at the View Point area—regular checks on alcohol consumption, and organized cleanliness drives across the colony.
The Panchayat expressed satisfaction that, with collective cooperation, public alcohol consumption in the colony has been significantly minimized. However, it regretted that a few individuals continue to cause disturbances, particularly at night, due to intoxication. In response, the Panchayat has resolved to take stern action against drunk driving, violence, and other illegal activities linked to alcohol abuse. Offenders will face the full extent of the law, and details such as vehicle type and registration numbers will be made public through local dailies and social media platforms.
With final examinations approaching, the Panchayat also appealed to all residents to refrain from creating any form of public disturbance, citing concern for the academic focus and well-being of students. It warned that any individual or group found violating this directive will face consequences, and the Panchayat will take necessary action against defaulters.
