Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 trophy in Chumoukedima
The IDFC FIRST Bank Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy 2025–26 got underway at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chumoukedima, with North Zone and West Zone registering dominant victories in their respective opening matches. Hosted for the first time by the Nagaland Cricket Association under the aegis of the BCCI, the tournament features six zonal teams and will continue till November 14.
The inaugural match between North Zone and South Zone commenced with an invocation prayer by Gwanilo Khing, pastor of Rengma Baptist Church, Sovima. North Zone, led by a stellar performance from Deeya Yadav, cruised to a 96-run win over South Zone at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, North Zone posted 152/5 in 20 overs, anchored by Yadav’s match-winning knock of 67 runs off 47 balls. Despite tight spells from South Zone’s C Prathyusha (2/20) and Sahana S Pawar (2/40), North Zone maintained momentum throughout their innings.
In reply, South Zone collapsed for 56 in 14.3 overs, with only Prathyusha reaching double digits. Amandeep Kaur led the bowling attack with 3/9, while Nazma (2/10) and Mannat Kashyap (2/14) ensured a comprehensive win for North Zone. Deeya Yadav was adjudged Player of the Match.
Meanwhile, at Sovima Cricket Ground, West Zone delivered a commanding performance against North East Zone, winning by 126 runs. Batting first, West Zone piled up a formidable 201/4 in 20 overs, powered by a blistering century from K P Navgire, who scored 112 off 58 balls. A A Patil added an unbeaten 44 off 28 balls.
North East Zone, chasing 202, managed only 75/8 in their allotted overs. D D Dutta top-scored with 23 runs, while West Zone’s A A Patil impressed with the ball as well, claiming 2/13. Navgire was named Player of the Match for her explosive innings.
The tournament features zonal teams comprising state associations from across India. North Zone includes DDCA, Punjab CA, HPCA, Haryana CA, JKCA, UTCA Chandigarh, and SSCB. South Zone features Tamil Nadu CA, KSCA, Hyderabad CA, Andhra CA, Goa CA, Kerala CA, and CA Pondicherry. East Zone comprises CAB, Odisha CA, Assam CA, Tripura CA, Jharkhand SCA, and Bihar CA. West Zone includes Mumbai CA, Maharashtra CA, Gujarat CA, Baroda CA, and Saurashtra CA. Central Zone features UPCA, Rajasthan CA, MPCA, Vidarbha CA, RSPB, CSCS, and CA Uttarakhand. North-East Zone includes Sikkim CA, Nagaland CA, Arunachal CA, Meghalaya CA, Manipur CA, and CA Mizoram.
With national and international women cricketers participating, the tournament promises high-quality competition and marks a significant moment for Nagaland as host of this premier domestic championship.
