As 2025 draws to a close, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has reflected on what it described as a year of important milestones and steady progress, despite various challenges. The party said the collective efforts of its leaders, workers and the people had strengthened its commitment to safeguarding the welfare and interests of the Naga people.
Highlighting key developments, the NPF said the historic merger of NDPP and NPF during the year had strengthened regional politics and reinforced unity and stability in governance. The party expressed gratitude to the Naga public, Church leaders, civil society organisations and well-wishers for their continued support, prayers and guidance.
However, the party expressed disappointment that while discontent continues over the denial of visa to evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham for a proposed visit to Nagaland, recent incidents such as disruption of church services and vandalism of Christmas decorations reported from various states have further threatened the Christian community.
NPF said such incidents hurt religious sentiments and run contrary to the spirit of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of faith, secularism and mutual respect. Describing the matter as deeply sensitive, the party called for swift action by the concerned authorities to safeguard peace and harmony among different religious communities.
Reiterating its stand, the NPF said it stood firmly in solidarity with the Christian community and reaffirmed its commitment to culture, tradition and faith. The party also welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in a Christmas service, expressing hope that it reflects genuine respect for all faiths and sincere efforts to safeguard religious freedom across the country.
Looking ahead to 2026, the party renewed its pledge to serve the people with dedication, honesty and integrity, and extended New Year greetings, expressing hope for peace, unity and progress in the coming year.
