National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Dimapur District, has expressed serious concern over the continued functioning of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) without a substantive chairman.
In a press release, NPYF Dimapur stated that the absence of a duly appointed chairman raises grave questions about the State Government’s commitment to due process, administrative propriety, and institutional integrity.
It asserted that the State Service Commission plays a vital constitutional role in ensuring merit-based recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary oversight within the state’s civil and public services.
The youth body noted that the ongoing operations of the Commission, including meetings and administrative decisions taken in the absence of proper leadership, may lack legal validity. Such actions, it said, contravene the spirit and provisions of the NPSC Act and the Constitution, thereby eroding public trust in the institution.
Calling for immediate intervention, NPYF Dimapur urged the Governor and concerned authorities to appoint a qualified, competent, and impartial chairman without delay.
It also demanded that all major administrative actions or policy decisions be suspended until the Commission’s leadership is regularised.
