Nagaland: NPYF flags substandard work on VK-Doyang road

DIMAPUR, FEB 4 (NPN)

National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Nagaland state unit, has expressed shock over what it termed the “deplorable quality” of ongoing road construction along the VK Town–Doyang Bridge stretch.
In a statement issued through its media cell, NPYF said an unofficial visit to the site revealed alleged negligence in the construction of “plum concrete” retaining walls. It claimed photographic and videographic evidence showed structures resembling loose drystone stacking rather than properly engineered, load-bearing barriers required for the terrain.
The unit warned that such substandard workmanship failed basic engineering standards and posed serious risks. With the monsoon approaching, it cautioned that the loosely built walls were vulnerable to collapse under water pressure and landslides, endangering commuters and disrupting regional connectivity.
NPYF has demanded that the Public Works Department (National Highways) conduct an immediate technical inspection of the project and publicly disclose the name of the contractor. It also called for demolition and reconstruction of substandard portions as per proper engineering norms, along with strict punitive action against those responsible.
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare, NPYF said it would not remain silent on developmental sabotage.
