NSCN (Reformation) has expressed concern over a recent incident involving some individuals allegedly connected to the group, which it said has drawn significant public attention.
In a press release, the group clarified that the “act of notoriety” involving certain cadres in an abduction case has brought disrepute to the organisation.
The group stated that the actions of those involved were not authorised or sanctioned by the NSCN (R) government. The individuals acted solely in their personal capacities and not under the direction or sanction of the party, the statement read.
Following a preliminary review, NSCN (R) said it was established that among five individuals arrested in connection with the case, two- identified as Nagato and Anto- were members of the group. NSCN (R) informed that both have been suspended from active national service with immediate effect, pending a comprehensive and impartial investigation. This suspension, it said would remain in place until the investigation is concluded and their innocence or culpability is determined, adding that the group remains committed to transparency and accountability.
Further, NSCN (R) pledged full cooperation with authorities to ensure that justice was served through due legal process.
It also appealed to media outlets to exercise utmost caution and responsibility while reporting and urged them to verify facts with credible sources before publishing/broadcasting information related to this incident.
It said that media plays a pivotal role in shaping public perception and fostering a just and informed society, adding that unverified or misleading reports can inadvertently defame individuals or organisations and create unnecessary confusion amongst the public.
Reiterating its commitment to peace, justice, and the welfare of the Nagas, NSCN (R) assured that any actions found inconsistent with its principles and values will be addressed with the seriousness they deserve.
