Nagaland: NSF keeps protest in abeyance, to engage with HPC on MO regularisation

DIMAPUR, FEB 7 (NPN)

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed that the 2nd Emergency Presidential Council Meeting (2025-2027) was convened on February 7 to deliberate on the expiry of the ultimatum served on the State government on December 20, 2025, regarding the regularisation of 97 Medical Officers under department of Health & Family Welfare.
In a press statement, NSF president Mteisuding Heraang and general secretary Kenilo Kent stated that the house placed on record its sincere appreciation for the invaluable services rendered by all health workers, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and acknowledged their contribution to the well-being of the people.
The house also took serious note of the Cabinet resolution dated February 3, 2026, wherein the Cabinet decided to keep the regularisation orders in abeyance and to constitute a High-Powered Committee (HPC) to examine the matter. In this regard, the house endorsed the NSF executive council to engage in discussions with the HPC with the objective of arriving at an amicable, fair and just resolution. NSF stated that although the ultimatum had expired, all democratic measures have been kept in abeyance for the time being. However, it urged all its units to remain vigilant and be prepared for any course of action that may be initiated by the Federation should an amicable solution not be achieved.
NSF reiterated its commitment to uphold transparency, meritocracy and constitutional procedures, while safeguarding the interests of the student community and the public at large.
