The Naga Students Organisation Burma (NSOB) met with the Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) on September 30 and October 1 in Dimapur, to discuss pressing issues affecting Nagas in Myanmar.
In a press note, NIPF said that NSOB delegation, led by president Naogang Ngansa and general secretary Man Kai Konyak, along with representatives from Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) and met NIPF president Dr. Lima Jamir and advisor Khehoto K Swu.
During the meeting NSOB briefed NIPF on the challenges faced by Nagas in East Nagaland, Myanmar, particularly amid political instability.
They also focused on ensuring free movement across border areas, currently restricted by Assam Rifles and civil administrators, and how Nagaland’s civil society can support East Nagas.
Besides voicing out against border fencing in Naga of Arunachal, Nagaland, and Manipur, the meeting also discussed about improving road connectivity and trade in border areas to benefit local communities.
The meeting also advocated for the establishment of educational centers in border areas, with support from the Nagaland government, churches, and NGOs and also discussed about security threats and promoting unity among Nagas.
The meeting also discussed about providing relief to families facing food crises in the region and also to establish NSOB office at Lahe HQs.
The meeting highlighted NSOB’s commitment to fostering unity among Nagas and addressing the community’s pressing concerns.
