International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking 2017 was observed across Nagaland on June 26 under the theme “Listen First – Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe.”
DHEP Doyang: International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at CISF Unit DHEP Doyang, Nagaland on June 26. A press note by assistant commandant CISF unit DHEP Doyang, Pushpendra Kumar stated that participants were briefed about effect of drug abuse on individual, society and nation. 50 CISF personnel participated in awareness rally in nearby village. Pamphlets in English/ Naga (Lotha) language were distributed among local citizens. Pushpendra Kumar supervised the event.
173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur: 173 Bn CRPF Airfield Dimapur observed International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking by educating youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse. Joseph Keishing commandant-173 Bn CRPF along with officers and men of the force, school students and teachers from Kirha L.P.School, Tangkhul Middle School and Diphupar Government High School Dimapur participated in the programme. A silent march was organized by 173 Bn along with the school students starting from Kirha L.P. School Dimapur wherein students displayed banners and poster to say “No to Drugs” and to have a life free from addiction. Commandant Keishing emphasised on the theme selected by United Nations, “listen first- listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe”. He stated drugs not only affect physically and mentally but it had numerous adverse affects on social life of an individual.
Wokha town: Nagaland Users Network (NUN) TI NGO Wokha, observe international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in collaboration with DAPCU and WNP+ Wokha.
Theme speaker of the programme, NETSU project officer Zachamo Ovung, elaborated the attitude of the drug dependency among the drug users. He asked the participants to work hard to control this menace disease by availing the facilities provided by Government and NGO agencies.
Earlier, the program was chaired by NUN Wokha, program manager, Loyivani Patton, invocation payer was pronounced led by NUN nurse Wonjano Kikon, which was followed by silent prayer for those departed souls due to drug.
Personal and testimony was shared by NUN, PE Phyoben Ngullie and Jim (Mentor Project Sunrise). Later, vote of thanks was delivered by M&E NUN Wokha Bhanchamo Odyuo.
Phek: International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at DPDB hall, Phek.
Deputy Commissioner, Phek, KoviMeyase delivering the welcome address stressed on the need to know about drug abuse and alcoholics and early precautionary measures.
The programme was chaired by EAC, Phek T. Sulanthung. ADC, Phek, MhathungTsanglao delivered the vote of thanks. The resource persons were Dr. KeviHevolie of Civil Hospital, Phek, President CMA, ZaposheluVenuh and Prosecution Inspector, Phek, Medusa. Colony leaders, GBs, public leaders and uniform personnel attended the programme.
