Nagaland observes Road Safety Month

Nagaland joined the nation in observing the Road Safety Month by promoting awareness and responsible behaviour on roads. The drive will continue till January 31.


To commemorate National Road Safety Month, an awareness programme was held in Niuland town and Aghunato town on January 29 and at Atoizu town on January 28, 2025 on the theme “Parwaah Karenge, Surakshit Rahenge” “(Will Take Care to Stay Safe).


According to DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Sara S. Jamir delivered a keynote address where she emphasised on measures to be taken to avoid road accidents and encouraged everyone to abide by the traffic rules and regulations.


Two sessions were conducted where various departments gave presentations on several relevant topics such as Good Samaritan, hit and run case , enforcement of traffic laws and rules under Motor Vehicle Act, Registration of vehicles, road safety and training on first aid treatment, CPR, Dos and Donts at the time of accident. The programme was followed by free eye check-up led by CMO, Niuland and provision of free first aid kits to 50 drivers by District Road Safety Committee.


AGHUNATO: District Transport Office, Zunheboto in collaboration with the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Aghunato organised a one-day awareness programme on road safety at Dobashi Court (DB) Office, Aghunato town.


The awareness programme was held as part of the National Road Safety Month.
Speaking on road safety awareness, Er. Hukayi Awomi, ARTO emphasised on the importance of various rules and regulations to prevent road accidents, and dwelled on obeying road safety rules.

He also stressed the need of skilful and cautious driving so that passengers, pedestrians and drivers stay safe. ADC, Aghunato D. Robin welcomed the participants at the programme, while N. Nchumbemo Kikon, AEI, chaired the programme, and vote of thanks was by Albert Achumi, ATC.


ATOIZU: At the programme held at Atoizu town, session on “Road Safety Awareness” was taken up by MVI, Zunheboto, Er. Akhamba Chang, and a detailed presentation on “Violations and Penalties” by MVC, Zunheboto, Lanuyanger Ao. The interactive session allowed participants the opportunity to voice their concerns and seek clarifications.


The event was chaired by AEI, Zunheboto, N. Nchumbemo Kikon, invocation by pastor, SBAK (Aizuto), Atoizu Town, Rev. Vikuto Katty, welcome note by Extra Assistant Commissioner, Atoizu, Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, vote of thanks by Er. Khehoto Chopy, Atoizu Town Councillor, and benediction by pastor, NCRC, Atoizu Khetoi Chopy.


The event witnessed participation from the district administration, Police, Atoizu Town Council, Civil society organisations, vehicle owners, drivers, and local community.
