DIMAPUR, JUN 23 (NPN): The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and its affiliated district associations organized a tree plantation drive as part of the Olympic Day 2026 celebration on June 23.
In a press release issued by NOA media team, a total of 2,036 trees were planted across Nagaland, symbolizing a collective commitment to environmental sustainability and a greener future under the global theme “Move, Inspire, Together.”
The initiative was conducted in line with the Indian Olympic Association’s directive and in support of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Forest initiative, which seeks to integrate environmental consciousness into the Olympic Movement worldwide.
The programme witnessed active participation from various sports associations, athletes, officials, volunteers and community members, whose involvement greatly contributed to the success of the plantation drive.
Through this effort, the NOA reaffirmed its dedication not only to promoting sporting excellence but also to fostering environmental awareness within communities. The association expressed hope that the initiative would inspire citizens, particularly the youth, to contribute towards preserving nature while upholding the values of teamwork, discipline, and solidarity embodied in the Olympic spirit.
