Advisor for new and renewable energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, has urged the Losami community to remain steadfast in unity, faith, and perseverance, emphasizing that through hard work and determination, “one can rise to the top.”
He was speaking as the special guest at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Western Losami Welfare Union (WLWU) held on Thursday at the Losami Community Hall, Tenyiphe 1, E-Khel, Chümoukedima, under the theme “Nurturing the Heritage of Oneness.”
Addressing the gathering, Nyuthe said that through unrelenting determination, hard work, and unity, the community can achieve parity with others. Quoting from the Bible, “So the last will be first, and the first will be last,” he encouraged the people to stay committed and resilient in their pursuits.
Drawing parallels with the rise and decline of the British Empire, Nyuthe remarked that complacency and dependence on outsiders had weakened it, stressing that such lessons should remind communities to remain industrious and self-reliant. He commended the Losami people for their discipline, work ethic, and resilience, particularly lauding the youth for staying away from antisocial activities and maintaining focus on productive endeavors.
He further emphasized the significance of Christian and family values, describing them as the foundation of a peaceful and progressive society. Concluding his address, the Advisor expressed appreciation to the WLWU for the invitation and congratulated the Union for reaching the milestone of 25 years, calling it a testament to the community’s spirit of unity and growth.
The silver jubilee program was led by Kewepupeu Kanuh, president of the Western Losami Women Welfare Society, with an invocation prayer offered by Wenyipe Swuro, pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Fellowship, Seithekema Basa. Wetsote K. Swuro, president of WLWU, delivered the welcome address, followed by a special tune presented by the Western Losami Women Welfare Society.
Earlier, the celebration also featured the unveiling of a monolith commemorating 25 years of the Union’s existence. The 25th Anniversary Souvenir was released by Dr. Eyekhweshe Kepfoh, Chief Veterinary Officer and former president of WLWU, while Neiwehi K. Tara, the first President of WLWU, delivered a speech on “Reminiscing 25 Years of WLWU.”
An acknowledgment was presented by the presentation committee, followed by a mass thanksgiving prayer and short speeches from representatives of the Village Council Losami, Losami Union Kohima, Losami Community Phek, and Village Council Losatephe. The parent body of WLWU also presented a traditional folk tune, adding a cultural touch to the occasion. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kekhwepe Mekrisuh, vice president of WLWU, and a blessing prayer by Weyiete Khesoh, Evangelist of Union CRC, Medziphema.
A grand anniversary feast followed, marking the joyous culmination of WLWU’s 25 years of unity, progress, and community spirit.
