Nagaland Patton assures justice inOct 25 Kohima murder case

DIMAPUR, NOV 2 (NPN)

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton has expressed deep anguish over the murder of a 22-year-old woman in Kohima, whose body was recovered on October 25, and assured that those responsible will be arrested and brought to justice.
Describing the incident as a heinous crime that has shaken the conscience of the people, Patton said the State government was treating the case with utmost seriousness.
He informed that the Police Headquarters has been directed to expedite the investigation and ensure swift action. Conveying his condolences to the bereaved family, Patton said the government stands in solidarity with them during this time of grief.
He also extended sympathy to all those affected by the tragic loss. Stating that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, Patton asserted that the perpetrators must face the full force of the law. Appealing to the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, the deputy chief minister urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist the investigation.
He reminded that the collective resolve of the community, coupled with decisive police action, would ensure that such acts of violence have no place in Naga society.
Patton further assured that his office would continue to monitor the progress of the case closely until justice is delivered to the victim and her family.
