Nagaland Pencak Silat team leaves for Khelo India Beach Games

Dimapur, Jan 3 (NPN)

A contingent of eight athletes and four officials from Nagaland departed on January 2 for Daman and Diu to participate in the 2nd edition of the Khelo India Beach Games 2026, scheduled to be held at Ghoghla Beach, Diu, from January 5 to 11.
The national-level event, organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aims to promote beach sports and provide a competitive platform for athletes across the country.
The Pencak Silat athletes representing Nagaland include Kitenlo K. Thono, Jon, Vitope Sheqi, A. Vipu Assumi, Hinokali, Nyia K. Thono, Avikali V. Sheqi and Hatneinem Khongsai. They are accompanied by team officials Deep Kumar, Kevin and Alice, along with Technical Referee Liike Kibami.
The athletes have undergone rigorous preparation with emphasis on sand-based competition techniques, a key feature of the Beach Games.
The officials will provide coaching guidance, team management and technical supervision during the event.
Expressing gratitude, the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association acknowledged the support of the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, Kethosituo Sekhose, and the department for facilitating the successful participation of the state contingent in the national event.
