Performing goat confiscated from NE Sun Circus in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, JAN 6 (NPN)

The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Dimapur, in collaboration with PETA India and Nagaland Police, on January 6 confiscated a performing goat from the North-East Sun Circus for violating animal welfare laws.
According to SPCA Dimapur, the goat was being made to perform without the mandatory Performing Animals Registration Certificate (PARC) and was kept under cruel conditions, in violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act and rules framed thereunder.
The animal has been confiscated and handed over to PETA India and will be shifted to the Animal Rahat Sanctuary in Sangli, Maharashtra, for long-term care and rehabilitation.
SPCA Dimapur expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Police, Dimapur, and the Veterinary Department, Dimapur, for their cooperation and support in successfully carrying out the operation.
