Nagaland Police has intensified Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking across districts following the Assam Assembly elections and the by-election in Mokokchung, as part of preventive measures to regulate movement and maintain law and order.
According to a press release issued by PHQ, a total of 777 ILPs were checked across six districts bordering Assam on April 10, during which 436 defaulters were detected.
The drive continued on April 11, with 1,217 ILPs checked and 208 defaulters identified.
Police said action has been taken against all defaulters as per law, and cases have been forwarded to the respective district administrations for necessary action.
The intensified checking was carried out to curb illegal movement of non-indigenous persons and ensure strict compliance with ILP regulations in the post-poll period.
Nagaland Police further informed that district police units have been directed to continue regular ILP checks in coordination with district administrations to ensure full enforcement of ILP provisions.
