Nagaland Police signs pact with RGU for higher education support

DIMAPUR: Nagaland Police and Assam Royal Global University (RGU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to expand educational opportunities for families of police personnel. The agreement was formalised at the office of the Director General of Police, Kohima, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
The MoU was signed by Director General of Police, Rupin Sharma, on behalf of Nagaland Police, and Dr. D. N. Singh, Registrar (Academics), representing RGU.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma highlighted the importance of the collaboration, expressing confidence that it would benefit the wards and dependents of police personnel by facilitating access to quality higher education. He said the initiative would be effectively utilised to support the community, particularly children and dependents of serving and retired personnel.
Under the partnership, RGU will introduce two scholarship categories—Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha—designed to support higher education aspirations of eligible dependents of defence and security personnel, including serving personnel, ex servicemen, personnel with disabilities, and those who have died in harness.
Dr. Singh described the MoU as an honour and privilege for RGU, stating that the university was committed to recognising the contributions of police personnel by ensuring their families have access to academic excellence, scholarships and holistic development opportunities.
The ceremony was attended by senior Nagaland Police officials including ADGP (Administration) Renchamo P. Kikon, IGPs Videlalie Zashumo, Rothihu Tetseo, Jaspir Singh, Kevithuto Sophie, Changkei Konyak, DIGs Uniel Kichu, Chumrenthung, Yangba Konyak, Lakha Koza, Vekhosa Chakesang, and AIGP (Coordination) Watichuchang Jamir.
