Nagaland Porütso Khel clarifies on Oct 24 murder case

Correspondent KOHIMA, NOV 13 (NPN)

Porütso Khel, Jakhama, has issued a clarification over a recent report carried in some sections of the media concerning the October 24 murder case, stating that certain details attributed to the Khel were inaccurate.
In a press release issued by Porütso Khel advisor Khulvi Lothü and chairman Vizade Zao, the Khel clarified that it had not mentioned any specific period or year of ostracisation concerning the grandmother and aunts of late Vihozhonu Zao, as reported. It stated that no such period could be declared until the accused were proven guilty or otherwise.
The Khel further appealed for caution in the use of the surname “Zao”, asserting that there had been no traditional adoption of the accused into the Khel.
Reiterating its stance for justice, Porütso Khel strongly demanded the highest and most severe form of punishment—capital punishment—for the accused in the October 24 murder case and urged that justice be delivered at the earliest.
