Nagaland Potato Festival 2026 held at Jakhama

DIMAPUR : The third edition of the Nagaland Potato Festival 2026 was held on May 15 at Jakhama Village Ground showcasing the agri trade potential of potato cultivation in the state. Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse,graced the occasion as special guest and formally inaugurated the festival.
The programme was hosted by Visakunu Tetso and Vikhehiezo Kulnu, with invocation offered by Rev. Zapovil Sophie, senior pastor of Jakhama Baptist Church. Kehochol Tase, chairman, Jakhama Village Council, delivered the welcome address, followed by greetings from Kevipodi Sophie, MLA and chairman, DPDB Kohima.
Dr. Keviu Shüya, deputy project director, ATMA Kohima, presented the keynote address highlighting the importance of potato farming and its trade opportunities in Nagaland. Short speeches were also delivered by Veyielo Doulo, director, department of tourism, and the commanding officer of 7th Battalion Madras Regiment, Jakhama Military Station.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Avilie Zhotso, convener of Nagaland Potato Festival 2026, followed by a stall visit showcasing local potato products and agricultural innovations.
