DIMAPUR

Peren District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PDCCI) held its first general conference commemorating Jalukie town traders union 25th anniversary on December 17 at Jalukie town square. The conference-cum-jubilee was sponsored and supported by 17 unions affiliated under PDCCI.
A press release by PDCCI, general secretary, Irangbui stated that CNCCI, Chairman, Dr. Khekugha Muru, speaking as special guest, stressed the importance of a collaborative mindset in promoting business beyond local boundaries. He highlighted the role of chambers of commerce in supporting each other across districts and North-eastern states, and noted that CCI, enshrined in the Constitution, must be able to challenge or support the government as a business community.
He recalled Peren district’s declaration as the rice bowl of Nagaland, citing its potential in organic vegetables, timber and bamboo resources. While criticising the government for failing to create industries suited to local resources, he encouraged entrepreneurs to explore start-ups and utilise modern technologies instead of relying on imports. He congratulated the founders of the traders union and urged PDCCI to remain strong during its crucial foundational period.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by ADC Jalukie, Alber Ezung, JTC councillor, Namdatbou, DMC councillor & VP Dimapur CCI, Omega Yepthomi, and VP Chumoukedima CCTA, V. Bohoto Achumi. The special guest was accompanied by vice chairman CNCCI, Jabu Sekhose from Kohima CCI and joint secretary CNCCI, Er. Chiloising Michui.
