PPO condemns MLA’s allegation on road project

DIMAPUR

Pathso Public Organisation (PPO) has expressed strong disappointment and condemnation over the statement made by the MLA of 57 Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency during the 30th Pathso Nokeng Public Organisation general session on January 3, 2026.
In a press release, PPO president, Pehe pointed out that the MLA had alleged that Rs. 40 crore allocated for the construction of the Noklak–Panso road was misappropriated without any visible work. PPO said it took cognizance of the allegation and verified the matter with the concerned department. However, the department clarified that it had no knowledge of any such sanction for the project.
Terming the MLA’s conduct “highly reprehensible and contemptuous of public office,” PPO stated that it was unbecoming of an elected representative to make such allegations without evidence. The organisation demanded that the MLA substantiate his claim with documentary proof on or before March 31, 2026, failing which it would be compelled to initiate legal proceedings. Earlier, PPO had written to the Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Noklak, and the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) Kohima, seeking clarification. Both offices responded that no sanction of Rs. 40 crore had been received under any central or state scheme, no work was allotted, and no funds were released or withdrawn for the said project.
