Usütomi Baptist Church commenced its Pre-Centennial Jubilee celebrations with a Jubilee Run on December 19, marking the beginning of activities leading up to its historic 100-year milestone in December 2026.
A press release by planning board member, Toino Awomi informed that the run was organised as a symbolic act of remembrance, thanksgiving, and preparation for the Centenary.
More than 300 members of the village, including both young and elderly participants from towns and cities, walked together from the village gate to the church premises.
During the flag-off programme, planning board chairman, Joseph Hesso, encouraged the community to strive to be winners not only in their spiritual journey but also in life.
He urged the congregation to continue living in love, unity, and mutual respect, values that have sustained the church and community over the decades.
Following the run, a jubilee flag was unfurled at the church premises. All village households raised white flags in a symbolic gesture, while elders above the age of 75, together with members of the Planning Board, released pigeons to signify prayers of thanksgiving for the past and hope for a future guided by divine peace and unity. Usütomi Baptist Church is preparing to celebrate 100 years of Christianity in December 2026.
