The Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Hotel Senti in Dimapur has sustained damage, prompting authorities to submit a formal repair proposal to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). According to the Chief Engineer of National Highways, the department is currently awaiting approval from the ministry to commence the repair work.
Temporary repairs using Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) were carried out by the original contractor during the recent Durga Puja festivities, as per the Defect Liability Period (DLP) norms. The department has requested the contractor to undertake the necessary permanent repairs once approval is granted.
Originally, the contract covered the replacement of the two approach spans of the bridge towards Hotel Senti. However, the contractor voluntarily repaired additional road sections from the police point to the approach slabs, as well as the stretch leading to Burma Camp, even though these areas were not part of the contract.
Regarding the damaged hand railings, the Chief Engineer noted that repairs cannot be enforced on the contractor as these areas were excluded from the contract scope. The department is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to ensuring the bridge’s timely restoration to maintain this critical infrastructure in Dimapur.
