The Khelo India Football Tournament, organized by the 78 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), concluded on Monday at the WAPO Ground in Sechu–Zubza, Kohima.
The tournament concluded with Phesama Students’ Union (PSU) emerging as champions after defeating Khonoma Students’ Union (KSU) 1–0 in the final match. Individual accolades were awarded to Mezgülhoulie Zashümo (PSU) as Player of the Tournament, Vikehiekho Seleyi (PSU) as Best Goalkeeper, and Neiphivilie Seyie (PSU) alongside Mezhülhoulie Zashümo as the Highest Scorers.
The champion team PSU received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, while the runners-up KSU were awarded Rs. 10,000. The event concluded with the presentation of awards and a vote of thanks.
Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, graced the closing ceremony as chief guest. In his address, he lauded the efforts of the CRPF and SAI in promoting sportsmanship and youth engagement through the tournament. He further expressed his intent to collaborate with the CRPF to enable the Nagaland Police to host similar sporting events in the future.
In a noteworthy announcement, DGP Sharma encouraged young athletes to apply for the recently resumed Nagaland Police recruitment drive. “With 45 marks allotted for the physical test, sportspersons have a distinct advantage. This is an excellent opportunity to pursue your passion while building a secure career,” he stated.
