Pungro Village Students’ Union (PVSU) celebrated its 55th anniversary under the theme “Thriving towards a limitless future.”
Gracing the occasion as special guest, S. Kiusumew, advisor of Fire & Emergency, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Relief and Rehabilitation, shared insights on navigating academic careers in a rapidly changing world. He lauded the union’s efforts in creating a landmark facility and urged students to leverage it for academic and personal growth.
The programme began with a colourful march past by students from college, higher secondary and high school levels, reflecting unity, discipline and school spirit. Fr. Matthew of St. Paul Parish, Pungro, delivered the invocation. Head GB of Pungro Village, Vongtsukiu, emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping progress, while PVSU president Lesemew highlighted achievements over the past 55 years and outlined a vision for the future.
A major highlight was the inauguration of the Students’ Library, envisioned as a modern resource and conducive learning environment. R. Warela Yimchunger, who secured 3rd position in Economics under Nagaland University, shared her inspiring academic journey, motivating fellow students. The KHOLAR Family YouTube channel presented a drama on the transformative role of students in society.
Vice president Shihsumew expressed gratitude to dignitaries and participants, while Dr. Berimong, pastor of Pungro village, said the benediction. The celebration concluded with a cultural folk dance by womenfolk, showcasing rich traditional heritage and artistry.
