Nagaland RCK observes 38th Raising Day

DIMAPUR

Royal Club Kohima (RCK) commemorated its 38th raising day on November 1 at Riiliezou, Kohima, with retired DGP and founding general secretary of RCK, K. Kire, as the main speaker.
Addressing members, Kire reflected on the genesis of the Club and its pivotal role in promoting football in Nagaland. He recalled RCK’s early support to the Kohima District Football Referees Association and its initiative in organizing the All India Royal Gold Cup, affiliated to the All India Football Federation, which drew participation from renowned teams including Mohammedan Sporting Club, Jamshedpur Football Academy, Dempo Sporting Club, George Telegraph, FC Cochin, and ARC.
Highlighting the Club’s motto “Service to all,” Kire noted that RCK comprised members from diverse professions—doctors, engineers, architects, academicians, contractors, businessmen, social workers, and politicians—and had rendered notable services such as national day visitations, tree plantation drives, Kohima town cleanliness campaigns, financial aid to disaster victims, and organizing traditional cart races, volleyball, wrestling, inter-school football tournaments, and debate competitions. He also recalled the hosting of the P.C. Sarkar Magic Show and the construction of the Kohima Local Ground (Khuochiezie) gallery in a record 45 days to support the 125th Quasquicentennial Celebration of Christianity’s arrival in the state.
Senior-most member Vituohu Rame called upon members to revive the Club’s activities and restore its former glory. RCK president Kesao Kesiezie chaired the function and paid tribute to past members, recalling their contributions and leading a two-minute silence in their honour.
The celebration also featured a singing session, special numbers, invocation by K. Sekhose, and vote of thanks by Atsuu Miachieo.
