A one-day Regional Conference on Natural Farming for CRPs, Krishi Sakhis and extension functionaries was held on February 2 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur. The programme was organised by Regional Centre for Organic & Natural Farming (RCONF), Imphal, in collaboration with KVK Dimapur.
The conference commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Homeswar Kalita, head of Regional Centre, Nagaland. Dr. V. Y. Deoghare, regional director in-charge, RCONF Imphal, delivered the keynote address highlighting the importance of natural farming in sustainable agriculture and farmer welfare.
Rosemary Ezung, joint director agriculture and nodal officer NMNF Nagaland, along with Bodevi Suya, director SAMETI Nagaland, graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Technical sessions covered promotion of natural farming schemes, practical approaches, techniques to enhance farmers’ income through reduction of input costs, nutrient and pest management practices, certification systems, and marketing and branding of natural produce. Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist & head, motivated farmers to adopt practices for conserving and improving soil health.
An open session enabled interaction between farmers and experts, allowing participants to clarify doubts and share experiences.
The programme concluded with a valedictory session featuring feedback from participants, honouring of farmers, and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Narendra Chaudhari, junior scientific officer, RCONF Imphal.
Resource persons from RCONF Imphal and KVK Dimapur shared valuable insights and field-based experiences. Altogether, 100 participants attended the conference. The programme was chaired by Lireni Kikon, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Dimapur.
