Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya on Saturday said Nagaland with its variety of races, ethnics and cultures was a very good example of the pluralistic nature of India.
Speaking as chief guest at Assisi Higher Secondary School (AHSS) parents day programme here, Acharya said language was most important aspect in a person’s life, saying one could be identified from the language one spoke, which in turn reflected the place one was born and the country one belonged to.
Despite the importance of language in identifying a person, Acharya said what really defined a person was not the language but the subject one spoke.
Further, he said no matter what language a person spoke, every person had a role to play and contribute in nation building. Governor therefore said one should dispel the inferiority complex.
Meanwhile, the governor commended the school for the sacrifice it had made for the student community, which eventually had contributed in the progress of the nation.
Acharya added that education was the only hope for India to march forward and become a developed nation.
Cautioning the students about the trend of corruption taking place in Nagaland, Acharya said people have chosen to acquire wealth instead of fearing God, which, he maintained had become a disease.
In order to change Nagaland and save it from the distress it had landed itself into, Acharya said the three essential Es — Electricity, Education and Employment needed to be improved.
The governor was accompanied by deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Kesonyü and commissioner of police Dimapur, Liremo Lotha.
Provincial Superior of North East Province of the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters Rev. Milly Fernandes was the guest of honour.
On the occasion, students starting from lower kindergarten to Class 12 presented dances, songs, choreography, traditional dance and a modern ethnic show.
