Nagaland: Rio interacts with media delegation from Gujarat

DIMAPUR

Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, on January 21, 2026, held an interaction with the visiting media delegation from Gujarat at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima.
According to DIPR, Rio highlighted various aspects of Nagaland including its history, struggles, economy, social issues and the special provisions enshrined in Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution. He pointed out that the State continues to face challenges in attracting investors and establishing industries, as land and its resources belong to the people, restricting outsiders from ownership except on lease for a limited period.
The Chief Minister observed that with the advent of Christianity and education, Naga youths today are well‑educated and talented, contributing not only within India but across the globe. While natural resources remain safeguarded under constitutional provisions, Rio stressed that human resources can be fully harnessed for progress.
He also referred to the JICA project sponsored by the Government of Japan and noted the cordial relationship Nagaland has developed with the Japanese people in recent years.
The primary objective of the Gujarat media team’s visit is to showcase development activities in Nagaland and highlight the State’s rich cultural heritage. Rio expressed hope that the visit would foster better understanding and strengthen ties between Nagaland and Gujarat.
The tour programme is being organised by the Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. Altogether, 15 media persons from different houses along with two PIB officials from Gujarat are on a four‑day visit to Nagaland from January 19 to 22, 2026.
