Nagaland: Rock Band Vanadium reunitesfor final show in Mokokchung

Veteran Naga rock band Vanadium, formed in 1995, will reunite for a special concert on December 30 at 6:00 p.m. at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, marking 30 years of its musical journey. The event will also be the band’s final performance together.
The reunion concert will feature Ponen on vocal, Longden LKR and Temjen on guitars, Alem on drums, and Pokyim on bass, with Satem Lkr appearing as guest guitarist.
Several musicians had also supported Vanadium during various performances when regular members were unavailable. These include Limaakum (guitar), Tiayanger (guitar), Achiba (drums), Tiaangshi (drums), and Satem Lkr (guitar), who is currently with DGP Band.
According to the members, the reunion concert is intended to celebrate three decades of music and long-standing friendships, while also encouraging younger musicians to remain committed to their passion.
Guest artistes for the evening include Sangti Ozukum, Temjen Lemtur, Longriwati (Squadron), Jongpong (Zeta Strings), Imtiakum, Kichuba and the band, and Empty Pockets.
Vanadium began its journey with limited resources and minimal formal musical training, driven primarily by a shared passion for music. Between the late 1990s and early 2000s, the band performed approximately 20 to 30 shows across Nagaland, including Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima, and Chümoukedima, contributing to the growth of the state’s live music scene during that period.
Over time, as members took on personal and professional commitments, the band slowly became inactive. Plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary were cancelled due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The concert is free, and gates will open at 5:00 p.m.
